Biography
District Elder Vernon L. Spinks is the Senior Pastor of Praise Temple Apostolic Faith Church, Inc. in Raleigh, North Carolina (www.ptafcnc.org) and is the founder of Praise Temple Apostolic Faith Church, Inc. in Fredericksburg, Virginia (www.ptafcva.org).
District Elder Spinks began preaching the gospel in 1985 and received his local ministerial license in 1992. In July 2000, upon the recommendation of the late Pastor and founder Marie D. Battle, he passed the Ordination Exam and met all the requirements of the Board of Bishops of the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith Association, Inc. and was ordained an Elder.
District Elder Spinks' impacting pastoral leadership is reflected in his congregation as his membership includes people from as far away as Fredericksburg, Virginia. He has recently been elevated to the District Elder of the North Carolina Churches, which is a fellowship of Pastors in the state of North Carolina.
District Elder Spinks' ministry has reached out to the community through various social and educational programs, which includes community day programs, summer camp programs, prisons, rescue mission for the homeless, nursing homes, radio and cassette tape ministries.
District Elder Spinks' educational accomplishments include an Associate Degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He has received Certificates in the Evangelical Teachers Training Course and the Ministerial Course of Pentecostal Churches. His professional background includes working in various management positions as a supervisor for Wake Medical Center, Wachovia Bank, Non-Commission Officer in the United States Air Force and he is currently employed with the United States Postal Service.
District Elder Spinks is happily married to his childhood sweetheart and companion in life and ministry, Assistant Pastor Phillystine Spinks. He is the father of six children; Carmine, Tamyra, Cory, Courtney, Quentin and LaShandra.
